About our School

Mr. Gilbert Velez is a 9th Degree Kenpo martial artist frequently invited to conduct domestic and international instructional seminars for the International Kenpo Karate Association. Mr. Velez has been teaching the Parker's system in Tucson, Arizona since 1973. He was one of a select few to study privately with Senior Grand Master Ed Parker for over 22 years.

Since 1973, we have prided ourselves on teaching authentic Ed Parker Kenpo. We are members of the International Kenpo Karate association and are the only studio in Tucson, Arizona that teaches the original and complete Ed Parker system.

Introductory Classes

To give you the opportunity to see first hand what Kenpo has to offer you, we provide an introductory course for a nominal fee with no further obligation (all you need is a T-shirt and loose fitting pants/shorts).

Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate can be learned and practiced by people of all ages at a level which fits your fitness level. The Art provides the practitioner with coordination, self-confidence, discipline, and self-esteem.

We recognize a need for activities that can be engaged in and shared by the whole family. For this reason we have excellent family discounts.

Pre-K

Our Pre-K classes are available for children 3-1/2 to 6 years of age. We focus on developing attentiveness, good behavior, and basic coordination all within a very fun 1/2 hour class.

Children Classes

We feel that young children can gain tremendously from involvement in the Martial Arts. Our belt ranking program teaches children to be goal oriented. They soon see directly how commitment and work pay off. This lesson inevitably carries over into school work.

Adult Classes

Adult classes emphasizes self-defense techniques. Instruction is also available for kumite (free-style sparring), forms, and tournament competition.

Open Mat

In addition to classes that are specifically for your belt level, we also offer classes throughout the week in which anyone can attend. These classes are less structured and provide a great opportunity for you to work on whatever you like.
